AI SEO Services for the Engines That Answer Instead of Listing
Ranking first stopped guaranteeing the click. ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Grok now answer the question on the spot, and name a handful of brands while doing it. We find out whether yours is one of them, and fix it if it is not.

Position one is no longer the same as being the answer.
Four things changed at once, and traditional SEO reporting cannot see any of them.
The answer arrives before the click
An AI Overview or a Perplexity answer resolves the question in the result itself. The page that would have earned the visit never gets opened.
Being ranked is not being cited
Engines quote the passage that answers cleanly, not necessarily the page that ranks first. A number-one position can sit underneath an answer that names somebody else.
Some answers link nothing at all
Ask ChatGPT or Claude for a shortlist and you often get three brand names and no URLs. Being mentioned there is a different job from being cited.
Your analytics cannot see it
None of this shows in Search Console. You can lose visibility across five engines for months with your rankings report looking entirely healthy.
Retrieved. Grounded. Named.
Every engine runs roughly the same three steps. Knowing which step you fail at is the whole diagnosis — and it is the difference between an AEO problem and a GEO problem.
1 · Retrieval
The engine gathers candidate sources — its index, a live search, or what it absorbed in training.
2 · Grounding
It selects the passages it will actually build the answer from, and decides what to attribute.
3 · Output
It writes the answer, and either cites you, names you without a link, or leaves you out.
Range of AI SEO services we deliver.
Every engagement opens with the baseline, because nothing else can be scoped honestly until we know which engines already name you.
AI Visibility Baseline
Forty to sixty commercial queries run across all five engines, recording for each whether you are cited, named without a link, or absent — and who is named instead.
Answer Engine Optimization
Getting cited as the source. Schema, entity clarity and answer-shaped passages on your own pages.
Generative Engine Optimization
Getting named when nothing is linked. Brand presence across the third-party sources the models retrieve from.
Entity & Knowledge Graph
Making the engines certain who you are — consistent naming, sameAs links, Wikidata and Knowledge Panel alignment, disambiguation from similar brands.
Schema & Structured Data
Organization, Service, FAQPage, Product and Breadcrumb markup implemented and validated, so a machine reading your page does not have to guess.
Answer-Shaped Rewrites
Existing pages restructured so the answer sits in the first two sentences under a question-shaped heading, with the supporting detail beneath it.
Digital PR & Source Presence
Placement in the listings, roundups, reviews and communities that models actually retrieve, because a brand absent from those is absent from the answer.
AI Visibility Reporting
The same query set re-run monthly, reported as citation share and share of voice per engine against the opening baseline.
SEO, AEO and GEO are three different jobs.
They get used interchangeably and they are not interchangeable. The difference decides where the work happens and how you know it worked.

Deliverables, not a dashboard login.
AI search is new enough that plenty of agencies sell it without saying what arrives. This is what a Mind Digital engagement actually hands over.
One row per engine, per query. Run at kickoff, then re-run every month against the same set.
Cited is an AEO win. Named without a link is a GEO win. Not surfaced tells you which of the two to spend on first.
Four live AI search engagements.
Across ecommerce, connected hardware and B2B services — in the UAE, the UK and the US. Two on Shopify, one on Magento, one on WordPress.
Glamazle — beauty and fashion marketplace serving the UAE and wider Gulf, where buyers ask engines for brand and category recommendations before they shop.
Squegg — a connected grip-strength device and app for hand therapy — a considered purchase where buyers and clinicians ask open questions before choosing.
Transparent Tech — software engineering recruitment in London. The archetypal AI-answered query — ask any engine to shortlist agencies and it names three.
Velement — architectural signage and fabrication in New York and Dubai. A long, specified B2B purchase where buyers ask engines what a project needs before they ask who builds it.
Playzo Kids — toy and educational retail across the UAE, where gift queries are open-ended by nature and engines answer them with a named shortlist.
Each engine builds its answer from somewhere different.
This is the part that decides the work. An engine grounded in Google's index rewards classic SEO; one answering from training data rewards being written about elsewhere. Treating all five the same is why most AI SEO retainers produce nothing.
| Engine | Where its answer comes from | What moves the needle | Cites? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gemini & AI Overviews | Grounded in Google's own index — largely the pages that already rank. | Classic SEO plus extractable structure. If you do not rank, you are rarely surfaced. | Yes, with links |
| Perplexity | Retrieval first. It searches, reads and builds the answer from what it just fetched. | The purest AEO target. Clean, current, well-structured pages win. | Always |
| ChatGPT | Training data, plus a live search when the question needs one. | Both jobs at once — citable pages for browsing, brand presence for everything else. | When browsing |
| Claude | Training data, plus search where it is enabled. Conservative about naming brands. | Mostly GEO. Third-party corroboration matters more than your own copy. | When searching |
| Grok | Weighted heavily towards real-time posts on X. | Social presence and recency. The outlier of the five, and the fastest to shift. | Sometimes |
The practical consequence: a brand cited by Perplexity and invisible in ChatGPT does not have a content problem. It has a presence problem, and no amount of on-page work will fix it.
AEO is being cited. GEO is being mentioned.
Most engagements need both, but almost never in equal measure — and the baseline is what tells us the split. A brand with strong pages and no third-party footprint is a GEO job. A well-known brand whose pages bury the answer is an AEO job.

Baseline across five engines
Your commercial query set run across every engine, recording cited, named or absent — and which competitors are named in your place.
Diagnose AEO or GEO
Cited nowhere but your pages are strong is a presence problem. Known everywhere but never quoted is a structure problem. The split sets the budget.
Entity, schema and structure
Settle who you are across sources, deploy and validate the markup, and restructure the pages so the answer is in the first two sentences.
Build the source presence
Placement in the listings, roundups, reviews and communities the models retrieve from for your category.
Re-run and report
The same query set every month, movement reported per engine against the opening baseline, with the queries gained and lost named individually.
$ mdg baseline --engines 5 --queries 52
✓ 52 queries × 5 engines run
✓ Entity conflicts flagged
✓ Schema deployed + validated
✓ 14 passages restructured
✓ Share of voice tracked monthly

Is AI SEO worth paying for yet?
It depends entirely on your category, and we would rather say so than sell you a retainer that cannot work.
When it is worth it
Considered purchases, B2B services, anything where a buyer asks an open question before shortlisting. If people type “best CRM for a small sales team” or “who should I use for wayfinding signage”, an engine is already answering that, and it is already naming somebody.
When it can wait
Pure brand-name demand, or transactional queries where people already know what they want and simply need to buy it. If your traffic is mostly people searching your own name, classic SEO and conversion work will pay back faster.
What we will tell you
The baseline answers this before you commit to anything ongoing. If it shows nobody is asking an engine about your category yet, we will say so and point the budget at technical SEO or local instead.
Find out who the engines are naming.
Tell us your category and the questions your buyers ask. We will run them across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Grok and send back what came out — who was cited, who was named, and where you sat. If the answer is that AI search is not where your budget belongs yet, we will say that.
AI SEO, explained plainly.
What is AI SEO?
AI SEO is the work of staying visible in engines that answer a question rather than list ten links. It covers two jobs: answer engine optimization, which is being cited as the source of an answer, and generative engine optimization, which is being named inside an answer that may link nothing at all.
What is the difference between AEO and GEO?
AEO is about being cited — the engine quotes your page and links it as the source. GEO is about being mentioned — the engine says your brand name without linking anywhere. AEO is earned on your own pages through structure and schema; GEO is earned off them, through presence in the sources models retrieve from.
Does AI SEO replace traditional SEO?
No. Gemini and AI Overviews are grounded in Google's index, so pages that do not rank are rarely surfaced in the first place. Classic SEO is the foundation the AI layer sits on — technical health, relevance and authority still decide whether you are a candidate at all.
How do you measure AI visibility?
With a fixed query set, run across all five engines at kickoff and re-run monthly. Each result is recorded as cited, named without a link, or absent. That produces two numbers: citation share, meaning how often you are the source, and share of voice, meaning how often you are named at all.
Which AI engines do you cover?
ChatGPT, Google Gemini and AI Overviews, Perplexity, Claude and Grok. Each is tracked separately because each builds its answers differently — Gemini from Google's index, Perplexity from a live search, Grok largely from real-time posts on X.
How long before AI visibility changes?
Schema and structural changes can show in retrieval-based engines like Perplexity within weeks, because they read the live page. Engines answering from training data move far more slowly, since they depend on third-party sources accumulating — that is a quarters-long job, not a weeks-long one.
Five engines are answering your buyers today.
The only question is whether any of them say your name. Thirty minutes and your own queries will tell you — and if AI search is not where your budget belongs yet, we will say so.
